The pandemic has been a bit trying, and even though we knew there was a need with all else going on it was a bit much so our podcast took a hiatus (for a bit longer then planned). But, we are back now. We have some great interviews already recorded, and are always looking for new members of our community to interview. Do you have a story to share? We all do. Contact us at stories@queervoicez.org

So, we launched our podcast this month. It has been so amazing to talk to people wanting to share their stories. I look forward to sharing them with you each week.
You can listen on any of the popular podcast platforms. If you listen and would like to leave review on Apple Podcasts it would be greatly appreciated as it helps more people find us. Our goal is to share stories of the LGBT+ community to help youth connect and find similarities to what they are going through. If you would like to be interviewed for an episode please contact stories@queervoicez.org and let Larissa know you want to share. ![]() It has been a while since we last updated you. The pandamic that never seems to end has defintely gotten in the way of our plans. But... we decided that pandemic or not, we can still talk to people, so let's get this podcast launched. We are launching our podcast in February, 2021. We do not have the actual date yet as we are waiting on some info. However it will be in February. Do you know someone we should interview? Maybe you? Send us a message and let us know who, how to contact, and why you think they (you) would be a good fit. This will be an audio only podcast with the option to be kept anonymous if needed. Also, we sadly lost our email list so if you were on it, we deeply apologize as it was lost due to the fact that different board members had access, and to keep it safe we had to delete the account. We now have a new account to collect emails, this is the safest way to keep all contact information confidential. We will also be looking for people who would like to put their coming out stories into a book. That will be happening later this year, please let us know if you might be interested. Nothing else much new right now, we will have lots to tell you in the near future, but we wanted you to know that it is finally happening. I know there are people in the world who are facing much worse things then a cancelled event. I get that, but oh... every time I feel like we are starting to move forward, something else happens.
We have decided to postpone our community engagement event. We hope to pick up again after Easter, but we will see where the world is at at that time. I have heard it could be Christmas before things change. In the mean time, things to think about... What are we doing for our most vulnerable people during this time? If people were already feeling depressed and anxious imagine what this extra burden feels like to them. Parents, please just love your kids and keep them safe. Does it really matter who they love or what they look like? When you were pregnant did you wish for a boy or a girl, or a straight child? No, you wished for a healthy happy baby. Wish that for your child now. Now is when the world needs to come together in love. Help your neighbour, all those around you, to make it through this pandemic. Make sure that you check on those people in your life. Call them, video chat them, check and make sure the people you love and care for are doing ok. The journey of building a non-profit. It is a long slow road.
I have been working towards this for 2 years now and things get in the way, I started a business at the same time so that definitely got in the way, but this is too important and it needs a platform. So, we started and built a board, unfortunately due to the amount of work and the lack of my time we lost most of that board. Now we build again, just a few of us left. But, we are the dedicated few and we now have the support and help of a community strategist. We will get this done. We are hosting our first Community Engagement Session to see how best we can get this done. We are looking for people from every background. Ethnicity, ability, socioeconomic, gender, identity, age, you name it we want the diversity. We want to hear from people how we can best help our youth. Our initial thought was the sharing of stories, whether it be written word or spoken. Share with our LGBT+ youth so they know they are not alone, but it is so much bigger then that and we need everyone's input to figure that out. Step one ask for input and ask for help.
